
The 2026 IBTN Conference will be held from May 7 to 9 and is open to anyone registering to attend. The conference will include a poster session.
Call for Abstracts Deadline: January 26, 2026, 11:59pm (ET).
Obligations of Presenters
- Authors whose posters are selected will be asked to accept and confirm their attendance at the conference by March 16, 2026.
- All Presenting Authors must attend (either in person or virtually) and will be required to register for the conference before the conference registration deadline (April 17, 2026).
- All abstracts must be presented. Those who are unable to attend must arrange for a coauthor to present on their behalf. Failing this, authors must attend virtually.
- All Presenting Authors (attending in person or virtually) will be required to provide a video or audio walk through of their poster presentation (no longer than 3 minutes) to be posted on the IBTN website. This recording will act as a guided presentation of the poster. Conference attendees will be invited to leave comments online.
- Authors attending in person may be asked to present their posters at specific times during the poster session(s). Dates and times to be announced.
- Prizes will be awarded for the best abstracts submitted by students. Authors who cannot attend in person will not be eligible for any award, even if a co-author presents on their behalf.
- Authors attending virtually will not be eligible for any award and will not have an opportunity to directly interact with conference attendees.
IMPORTANT: Presenting Authors are encouraged to immediately inquire about the time required to obtain a visa from their country to travel to Canada, and plan their visa application accordingly.

Submission Instructions
- Please note that the decision to accept an abstract is based on a peer-review process.
- Abstracts may be submitted in English or French (for those submitting in French, please refer to the Publication section)
- Abstracts can be submitted in any of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .odt, .ott, .pdf, .rtf
- The total length of the abstract should not exceed 1,750 characters (including spaces and excluding the authors and their affiliations).
- All abstracts presenting a protocol must include the word “Protocol” in their title, and have the name of the trial registry, and the trial registration number included at the bottom of the abstract submission page. Unless they are registered protocols, abstracts need to include at least preliminary results. Non-registered protocols or abstracts without any results will not be accepted.
- The name of the Presenting Author must be indicated in bold and the name of the Corresponding Author must be indicated with an asterisk.
- Names of authors should be listed as “First Name” and “Last Name” followed by superscript numbers to refer to their affiliations, followed by their degree.
- Affiliations must contain the following information in this exact order:
- Name of the university department, research center, and/or hospital center
- Name of the university
- City, province/country
- Corresponding Authors should also be clearly designated by name at the bottom of the page (not only at the top with an asterix).
- The abstract must include the following clearly identified headings:
- Abstract title
- Authors, Author Titles and Affiliations
- Background
- Objectives/Purpose
- Methods
- Results

Publication of Abstracts
- Abstracts will be published in Annals of Behavioural Medicine.
- Authors submitting a French-language abstract can present their abstract in French or English at the conference. However, if they wish to have their abstract published, they will need to submit an English translation with their submission.
